Thoughts on Painting

It's been a busy year here in my studio. I started out by putting my work in a new place that's close to my home. It's called Stone House Antiques and it's this beautiful old stone building that has many different antique and art dealers who rent a booth, or a wall, and sell their goods. They have been open a few years, and I always love shopping there for old, interesting items to put in my still life paintings.
One day I drove by and a sign was up advertising space available. I called and asked if artists could get just walls, not the whole booth, as my items all hang. Jacquelyn, the manager, said they had the front two walls available right where you walk in, and they are quite large. I was a little apprehensive on if my work would be a good fit or not. You really never know, with a gallery or unique location, what works until you try it. Well, it has been a perfect fit! Paintings are flying off the walls ( a little too quickly since I work at a fairly slow pace). It's run by a great manager and group of people, and the owners are fantastic. I couldn't imagine a better location right now for my work. I still am in my traditional galleries, and they are wonderful. It seems to be the perfect balance right now for my pace and my work, with wonderful new collectors coming in every day antique hunting and leaving with a painting.
I am in the process of putting together a show in June with two other sculpture artists, a ceramicist, and another painter. Put a save the date on your calendar for the 11th of June, and I will send more details next week!
